The North American Mustang was developed from a requirement of the British Air Ministry. The Royal Air Force and the Commonwealth used the aircraft extensively during WWII. The British specification for the later version of the P-51D was Mustang IV, with the P-51 K built in Dallas, which used a different Aero prop, called the Mustang IVa.
