In the beginning of WWII, the Hawker Hurricane was a pivotal RAF fighter. During the Blitzkrieg these resolute, partially fabric-ladened monoplanes put up an impressive defense against the superior forces of the Luftwaffe. Although sluggish compared to the Messerschmitt Bf109, the Hurricane was able to tighten and absorb substantial punishment with less destructive armament.
