This is an Airfix 1/48 scale plastic model of the Bristol Blenheim Mk.IF - Airfix A09186. The Bristol Type 142 set a new world speed record for a civilian passenger aircraft at 307 mph. Developed by Lord Rothermere, owner of the Daily Mail and keen observer of the aviation scene, the Bristol was originally named 'Britain First'. These aircraft went into combat determined to show Britain's defiance and determination to prevail in the Second World War. The Bristol Blenheim was a ground-breaking aircraft design when it first entered RAF service but was outclassed by monoplane fighters.
