Airfix Sherman Crab

Also known as the "Mine Flail," the Sherman Crab was a modification to a standard Sherman tank for clearing a path for troops to move through dangerous minefields during operations in the Pacific and Europe. Mine flails are comprised of chains terminating with large steel balls which while moving spin and pound against the ground as the tank moves across the minefield, detonating the mines deliberately to clear paths for the troops. The first Crabs were used by the British but soon expanded to US, Free-French, and Canadian forces. When fully assembled, this 1/76 scale model measures 120mm long and 51mm wide.
